A working record

Hello, I'm
Billy Lim.

Product manager, DevRel, and community builder. For years I've helped teachers, developers, and organizers do their best work — most recently as the inaugural AI Product Manager at Uncommon Schools, where I led the rollout of enterprise AI platforms across a network of fifty-seven schools.

Lovable

Rose's List

Community-powered, GPS-based, neighborhood-level dog-friendly spot finder: more specialized than Yelp or BringFido, works across any U.S. city.

  • Defined product scope, feature prioritization, and UX decisions end-to-end
  • Designed the API strategy (Google Places & Geocoding) to enable scalability across all U.S. cities without manual data entry
  • Used AI-assisted dev to ship a working prototype without writing code — demonstrating ability to build and validate product ideas independently

Product Strategy Copilot

Turns 36 product strategy frameworks into an AI thought partner for applied scenarios. Augmentation of Department of Product concept.

  • Each framework provides expanded guidance, an example, custom diagram, question & answer dialog, and a framework-specific Claude prompt
  • Conversations convert into typed visuals (Impact/Effort matrix, Five Forces, Kano tiers, AARRR funnel, etc.) via per-framework JSON schemas
  • Zero-backend: Vite + React + Anthropic API direct from the browser, all state in localStorage

Origami Folds

A cross-platform mobile app that ships with a curated library of 12 origami models from beginner to advanced, and can generate fold instructions on demand for any shape via the Claude API.

  • Scoped a fuzzy brief into a shippable v1 by defining jobs to be done and forcing explicit trade-offs on platform, visualization, and AI use upfront
  • Chose SVG diagrams over a full 3D fold simulator — 90% of the value at 10% of the risk
  • Framed AI output honestly with a "may need adjustment" badge instead of overselling reliability
  • Stack: Expo / React Native (iOS + Android + web from one codebase), TypeScript + zod, react-native-svg, three.js, Anthropic Claude API with tool-use for structured output

Claude Code

Digital Image Processor

A desktop app that processes photos with 48 real-world film stocks and camera effects — Portra, Velvia, CineStill, Polaroid, cyanotype, and more.

  • Real film emulation, not Instagram filters: per-channel tone curves, color crosstalk, halation, and grain matched to the stock's actual response
  • Four modes built into one app: a drag-and-drop library with crop and before/after compare, live webcam capture with filters running on the stream, batch processing for whole folders, and savable custom presets
  • Concept to packaged Windows .exe in one session (Electron + React + WebGL2), with a detour to chase down a Chromium ImageBitmap Y-flip bug
